Life on Replay

We want to know what’s going to happen to us because we will then know how to act, but the only things that we know are those things that have already happened to us, and essentially, when we always want the known, we live exclusively in the past. This means that our lives are simply being lived on “Replay.”
Besides, we can’t ever really control everything even when we try to. We are adapting to circumstances constantly – whether we want to or not. So the choice is whether you will gracefully accept what comes to you or whether you will go kicking and screaming all the way.
Always trying to control is a fruitless activity. It causes stress and discomfort because the Universe has a way of doing what it wants and not what we want.In order to change anything in our lives we have to start from where we are. Where we are now may be pleasant or unpleasant, but making changes requires that we take action based on the truth.
Being honest with yourself about where you are right now is a valuable skill. Temporary discomfort will give way to being on the road towards what you want, but you have to start from the truth.
We really dislike thinking negative things about ourselves. Many times we will come up with excuses and justifications and apologies for why we are where we are. But you don’t need to do any of these things. You need to simply tell yourself the truth.
Saying to ourselves that we are somewhere we don’t want to be, means that along the way somewhere we have failed. This can be difficult to admit. But without the admission you are still failing, walking down the same road you have been on.
We don’t always have to shout the truth about ourselves and our lives from the rooftops, but we must always be truthful with ourselves. The truth is the starting point for all that we want in life.Hanging on to what we wish would happen instead of what actually is keeps us stagnant. If you want your life to be as you want it, be honest with yourself and connect your actions to that truth. Don’t be afraid of what actually is.
It’s usually not what’s straight ahead of us that is really rewarding, it’s the things we notice from the periphery. But if we are focused exclusively on what’s straight ahead of us, we tend not to notice things on the side, and those are missed opportunities.

Couldn’t agree more. What we are, is known to only us. Only we can evaluate and justify and judge ourselves. More often than not, we think how people may perceive us and our actions. I think it limits us, inhibits us, to be ourselves.

Nice blog. I am blogrolling you. :)

Our objectives have everything to do with the decision to be who we are. The end result is at least equal to our belief in the possibilities within us, keeping in mind that, sooner or later, reality will catch up to us, for better or for worse.
